BENEDETTA ORSI – INCANTO
INcanto was born as a tribute to Italian music and poetry.
The title must be interpreted both as the real song, and as the “enchantment” that listening to this music can cause for the listener, a real “enchantment”.
The album is divided into three parts, from Romanticism to Impressionism, with the first two sections for piano and voice and the last for string quartet and voice. The first selections are a showcase of opera and chamber arias by three Italian Bel Canto composers: Saverio Mercadante, Gaetano Donizetti and Vincenzo Bellini.
The rare inclusion of Mercadante’s music is meant to bring to the listener’s attention some of his most notable vocal compositions, historically obscured by Bellini and Donizetti.
